WELLINGTON", this day. i A waiter's struggle with a man whom he found in suspicious circumstances in the dressing room of the Regent Marble Bar on Saturday, was 'described in the Police Court to-day, j when Samuel Joseph Darragh, aged 25, a labourer, was charged with assaulting , William Webster, waiter, and with stealing a wallet and a tin of tobacco valued | at 4/3. ! Accused admitted the theft, but denied j the assault. The evidence showed that Webster found the man hiding behind a door, and as he could not give a satisfactory ! explanation of himself he closed with | him. Darragh broke away in the ensuing 1 struggle, but Webster recaptured him j and held him till the arrival of the | police.
