(By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRIST CHURCH, this 4^ An application by members of fc 5 " Michael's Church for permission to a performance in the Choral Hall on ife evening of Good Friday, of Robert Hugh Benson's passion play, "The TT Room," and an application for sion to screen the picture "The JGu of Kings," in the Grand Theatre «*SI' same evening, were refused bv tWrsJC'ouncil last niglit. The Mayor, the Rev. J. said he felt that if pennissU»; wen! granted the council would unfortunate departure from JZ cedent set by previous councils, ju thought it was a very healthy ctutan to have one day of the year abaflfaUr free from public entertainmett* : was sorry that a church had permission to break away from ■ : 4jttJ r custom. The church might live to regret its action. If a church was nar mitted to give a play on Good Friday*, did not see how they could object to a theatrical company giving a pfov same day, provided it was a reascnahir suitable play. '
