PUKEKOHE, Saturday.; Tlie golfing season, as far as Pukekolie is concerned, was officially opened this afternoon by Mr. James Houlston, president. Over 100 people were present, including representatives of the Everslie, Waiuku, Papakura and Otahuhu clubs. The links, despite the dry season, are in excellent condition, many improvements having been made since last season by voluntary labour. Mrs. Ivan Motion,* captain of the ladies' club, played the first ball, after which mixed foursomes over a nine-hole course were played. ROTORUA CLUB. The annual general meeting of the Rotorua Golf Club was held on Saturday night at St. Luke's Parish Hall, whm the president (Mr. W. W. P. Hall) presided over an excellent attendance. The report showed that the past season had been, most successful. The receipts had an outstanding feature in the large increase in green fees, the total for the past 12 months being £821. The membership of the club was 228. In regard to the visit to Rotorua of the Australian representatives for the Kirk-WJndeyer Cup, before proceeding to Wellington, the visitors, as a recognition of the kindness shown to them by the Rotorua Golf Club, had donated two handsome cups to be competed for, one to be for men's competitions and one for ladies. The balance-sheet at February 29, 1928, showed an overdraft at bank of £378, that date It has been reduced to *>450, and it is anticipated that there will be a further big reduction in the near future, the amount being caused chiefly through the sum_ of £324 being spent on bunkering and Xboo on wages.
