CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

EDEN AND PONSONBY LEVEL. SHORE IN THIRD PLACE. The completion of the senior clul? matches on Saturday resulted in Eden getting a first-innings win over Ponsonby, which thus makes it a dead-heat between the two teams for the season's championship. By scoring a win over Parnell, the North Shore team got into third place. University lifted their score to 254 for six wickets, Schnauvr registering a century to mark his first season in senior cricket, but were unable to go through the Y.M.C.A. eleven for the- second time before stumps were drawn.*- The students thus won on the first innings. In the fourth senior came, between Grafton and United Suburbs, Grafton got a three point win. The final points are: Eden 27, Ponsonby 27, North Shore 23, Parnell 21, University 19, United Subarbs 19, Y.M.C.A. 15, Grafton 9.

Honours Even. As the result of the Eden-Ponsonby match —a three-point win to Eden —these two teams finish up together at the top of the 1927-28 championship ladder. When play was resumed on Saturday Eden, with eight wickets down for 253, declared their innings closed in the hope of getting tlie four-point victory which would have given them the sole • right to 'the premiership for another season. Ponsonby started badly, losing five of their best wickets for only a' few more than 00, but the tail wagged quite vigorously, with the result that the total waft taken to 151 for the innings for three' hours' batting. As there was then but half an hour to play Ponsonby did not follow on, the game thus ending in a three-point win for Eden. Following are the scores:—

PARNELL V. SHORE.

Shore got a victory over Parnell on the first innings, when the match was concluded on Saturday. It wae a day of small scoring on the Shore ground, and the bulk of Player's contribution, 63, to the home side's total had been knocked up when the match began a fortnight earlier. VARSITY'S THREE POINTER. The Y.M.C.A. game with University was regarded as a foregone conclusion owing to the former team's poor showing on the first day. Resuming with three wickets down for 127 runs University carried their score along at a fairly fast rate, Schnauer playing attractively and scoring all round the wicket. He soon carried his not out score of the first day to the nineties, and with an off-drive reached the century. Miller got a couple of wickets cheaply for Y.M.C.A. and then, with six wickets down for 254, Garrard declared the University innings closed. In their second innings Y.M.C.A. scored 149 for the loss of six wickets. University thus won on the first innings. Scores:— Y.M.C.A. First Innings 97 Second Innings.
