Wbile the fire was at its height yesterday the steamer West Conob sailed into Auckland Harbour from San Pedro with 2000 cases of petrol for which storage space had been booked in the doomed building. But for leaving the. Pacific Coast five days behind schedule the steamer would have arrived in time for the.consignment to be placed in store.
