Mr. and Mrs. G. Andrews, of Hokianga, are at the Star Hotel.

Mr. G. Mitchell, of Wellington, went ;o Sydney by the Marama yesterday.

Mr. Charles Haines left for Wellington night after a visit to Auckland. Major J. Whitney will leave Auckland on Monday for Wellington, where he will join the Rotorua for England.

Mr. Alexander Harris, M.P., for Waitemata, has been elected a member of the Auckland Grammar Schools' Board.

Mr. Eric Neumegan was admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court of New Zealand by Mr. Justice Blair this morning, on the motion of Mr. W. J, Gatenby.

Conciliation Commissioner P. Hally returned to Auckland this morning after visiting North and New Plymouth on business.

Mr. J. R. Eddiston (England), Mr. N. H. Rowson (Ngaruawahia), Mr. B. Lutyens and Mr. D. J. Muirhead (London) are at Hotel Cargen.

Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Murphy and Mr. and Mrs. I. Hart, of Wellington, and Mr. R. George and Mr. J. Coatello, of New Plymouth, are at the Central Hotel.

Mr. G. W. A. Clark, who has acted in the capacity as senior supervisor of the Auckland Telegraph Office for the last four years, prior to which he was officer in charge of the Hamilton Telegraph Office, has retired after 38 years' continuous service in the Department. This move in the reorganisation of the telegraph office at Auckland involves the abolition of two positions, namely, that of superintendent and one senior supervisor*. Mr. R. M. Doull will now be the nominal head of the telegraph office, while Messrs. C. H. Venimore and R. S. Wheeler will share the duties previously carried out by the senior supervisors, Messrs. Clark and Doull. Mr. G. W. A. Clark has always been held In the highest respect, and will be greatly missed. Mr. Clark has always been a keen follower in the field of cricket and football. He will not be allowed to leave the telegraph office unrecognised, and a strong committee has already been formed to arrange a presentation and a suitable function.
