DELEGATION TO SAMOA.

"DOT A C.T.'S EXPEDITION." oommmri'i intimation. NATIONAL ASPECT PARAMOUNT. (By Telegraph.—-Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day.

Representatives of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce and of the Wellington Manufacturers' Association recently waited upon Mr. J. W. Collin, of the Department of Industries and Commerce, to discuss the proposed business delegation to Samoa and Niue, which is to leave the Dominion early In May on the initial trip of the new Government motor-vessel Maui Pomare. Mr. Collins had already discussed the Dominion aspect of the delegation with representatives of the Christchurch and Auckland Chambers of Commerce.

Mr. Collins especially emphasised that delegates would not be acceptablo who desired to participate from selfish and parochial motives. He said that the delegation was being organised in order that those constituting it might be enabled to inquire into the requirements of the islands and to report back to their various associations as to the prospects offering with this Dominion for trade that at present was going to other sources. Full opportunity would be given delegates to inspect and observe plantations and other commercial activities in the islands, and to discuss generally with traders what opportunities offered for increasing trade with New Zealand. In no way was it intended that the trip should be a commercial travellers' expedition. Exhibits would not be taken, but full opportunity would be offered on subsequent voyages of the Maui Pomare for displays of travellers' samples.

Some interests had intimated that under such conditions they were not to participate in the delegation, liii ft P°i ' those firms would Ss ™!r M Lf 0,, ? e ther opportunity to connections HSuMk. i " Und Js t I ad f r «. However, there the flelecti °n 7® ? would P T e« the
