DEAD IN KITCHEN.
HUSBAND FINDS WIFE'S BODY HEAD IN A GAS OVEN. When Mr. Lewis Benjamin Halverston, of Felix Street, Te Papapa, awoke at about 4.30 o'clock this morning and spoke to his wife he did not receive an answer, because she was not in bed. He switched on the light, and went to look for her. When he entered the kitchen he found her lying on the floor, dead, with her head in the gas oven. There were no marks of violence on the body.
Mr. Halverson, who is employed by Messrs. Harvey and Son, in Auckland, has been working overtime of late. When he reached home last night, he felt tired out, and, aifter tea went straight to bed to have a gooi night's rest, thinking that his wife would follow in due course.
He is not in a position to say whether she did so or not as he fell into a sound sleep immediately and did not wake again until this morning.
Mrs. Halverson, who w-3 32 years of age, had been a great sufferer, having undergone several operations in hospital, and was expecting to go there again for another one. The family consists of four boys, fhe tccurrence was reported to Sergeant J. A. Cruickshank, who has arranged for an inquest to be held by the district Coroner, Mr. D. A. Sutherland.
