APPOINTMENT OF MATRONS,
The quarterly meeting of the Board of Management of the Methodist Orphanages was held yesterday, the Rev. W. J. Elliott presiding.

Applications for the positions of matrons of the Weslev and Epworth homes, Mount Albert, were considered, and it was decided to appoint Miss Margaret S. Johnstone, matron of a children's shelter at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to the position at the Wesley Home. Miss Coatman, who has been in charge of tlie Epworth Home as first assistant for nearly six years, was appointed matron.
_ A resolution expressing cordial appreciation of the services of Mrs. Armitage. who is retiring voluntarily after eight years' service as matron of both homes, was carried. Her resignation as from June 1 was accepted with regret.
It was stated that the three homes were full with a total of 125 children.' There was one vacancy for a boy at the Epsom Home.
