THE FUND GOING UP.

ENOUGH FOR TEAM OF SIX. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. Though the funds of the New Zealand Olympic Council are ptill lower than they could wish. there seems little doubt that the six athletes outside the rowing eight, who were nominated by the Committee of Precedence, which met in Wellington recently, will be dispatched to the Olympic Games. The cash in hand now totals £1550, including the donations of £500 by the New Zealand Swimming Association, £400 by the Boxing Council. £200 by ! the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association and £100 each from Sir Douglas Maclean and a firm of newspaper proprietors. The general collection fund is now £350, as against £130 a week ago. The sum of €230 has come to hand since the council called in collection lists. Each athlete sent to Annrfjril. m w ju cost the council about £400, so ♦!»■♦- ti will bo seen that the condition of the fund at present makes it barely possible to dispatch four representatives of the Dominion, one each from the sports of boxing, swimming and athletics, since the money donated by the governing bodies m these fields has been earmarked for the purpose of sending away one of their nominees. In addition, it is * v. f Railway Department, of which A. Clever ley is an employee, i» inaugurating a fund for sending him away, while the effort in Gisborne to raise sufficient money to make possible ~ B ® Norma Wilson's presence at Amsterdam is also considered likely to be fruitful.
