THE EXCITEMENT OF BUG HUNTING

(Sent in by J. A. Rigden, Puriri St., Avondale South, age 15.) Sonic people say there if? no excitemcnt in bug hunting. For the enlightenment of these ignorant people 1 am going to tell the tale of Thompson, our natural history expert. It happened that on one of his bug pursuing jaunts Thompson found his way barred by a fence, which divided lawful from unlawful hunting ground. But upon the same principle that cows think grass in the next field greenest, he decided that farmer McGuire's fields would be a regular bug hunter's paradise. Whether Thompson really is shortsighted, or whether he uses his spectacles as an excuse for not seeing those things it suits him not to see, I have not yet decided. Be that as it may, Thompson, paying not the slightest attention to a notice informing him that trespassers would be prosecuted, and enjoining him to beware of the boll, crept througn the fence. The farmer's fields proved quite up to expectations. waa pursuing a particularly harmless butterfly that Thompson found himself in the vicinity of an orchard. *1* while he was in the vicinity of that orchard that he n? 1 McGuire tearing down upon hint.
