A NEW TEST.
LADDERGRAMS.
CHANGE ON THE WAT DOWN.
Here is a new test of the intelligence of the reader—laddergrams. No prize is offered for this, but it is a very interesting study. On the top of the ladder we give a word, which is to be changed to that at the bottom. Step down a rung at a time, changing one letter only in each new word without transposing the remaining letters. Keep away from abbreviations and obsolete or hyphenated words.
See if you can better the author's solution, which will appear next week. Here's an answer to last week's laddergram, Bank-Roll: 1, Bank; 2, Balk; 3, Ball; 4, Boll; 5, Roll.
