DEFEATED AT PAEROA,

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAEROA, this day. Six rinks of the Taranaki touring bowlers played a match against a Paeroa and Hikutala team at Paeroa yesterday. The match was very interesting, and resulted in a win lor the local players by 128 point* to 96. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. Six rinks, representing the Taranaki bowling tourists, visited Waihi yesterday afternoon and played a match against a combined team from the Waihi and Waikino Clubs. The game resulted in a win for Taranaki by 15 points. The visitors were welcomed at the green by the Mayor and Mr. McDermott, the president of the local club. Mr. Dringle responded on behalf of the visitors. Following are the results, the Taranaki players being mentioned first:—Quinn, 25, v. Paull 12; Verry 28, v. Hewett 11; Robb 18, v. McGonagle 29; Dringle 23, v. McDermott 13; Butler 15, v. Landy 21; Hawkins 16, v. Vercoe 24. Totals: Taranaki, 125; Waihi, 110. This is the first time a bowling {earn outside Auckland has visited Waihi. The visitors, prior to leaving for Te Aroha, were conducted over the surface workings of the Waihi Company's mine.
