WHANGAREI BOY SCOUTS.
PRESENTATION OP COLOURS.
The presentation of colours to the Whangarei troop of Boy Scouts took place last evening, at a large muster of Scouts and Girl' Guides. Mr. L. J. Brake, chairman of the committee, presided. The Rev. H. T. Steele, vicar of Whangarei, and Scoutmaster R. Ferguson, led the religious ceremony. Prior to the handing over of the ensign, which is the gift of the troop committee, demonstrations of bridgebuilding and o-r signalling were given. A trek cart competition was won by the Fox Patrol, which also secured the challenge cup for interpatrol competition, hight of the Wolf Chilis "went up" as Scouts. Assistant-Scoutmaster Churston received his warrant and Scout E. Reynolds was' presented with his life-saving badge. A number of o-ther badges were awarded.
The demonstration concluded with an address bv the Mayor, who urged more public support for the movement.
