Billikins, Abbey Queen, Bright Day and Always are Waikato horses nominated for the Feilding Easter meeting, which takes place on April 7 and 9.

Mr. F. D. McLiver leaves for Sydney next week to sec Patadawn run there. This two-year-old won at Ellerslie at Christmas time, and was subsequently tent over to the other side.

Ruanui looks as though he is back to form again, for he completed a double at the Rangitikei meeting by winning the Killeymoon Handicap on Thursday. He won a double at feilding in the spring, and these were his best efforts since then.

Double Mint was formerly raced in the Auckland district, and her best performance this season was in finishing second to Welcome Home at the Whangarei meeting. She finished third to Fee Simple and Thrift at the Rangitikei meeting, and may do better.

Aropeta, who led the field home in the Rangitoto Handicap at Rangitikei on Thursday and paid a good price, is a five-year-old gelding by Cynic. He won the Moturoa Electric Handicap at Taranaki last month, which is his only previous success, though he has been racing for Borne seasons past.

Saixhee raced sufficiently well at ♦Trentnam last week to say that he should be hard to beat the next time he is seen out. He is by Sarchedon from Welkin Queen, and is well enough bred for anything. Sarchee is owned by Mr. W. R. Kemball, and is engaged at the Masterton and Wairarapa meetings.

Mendip is a useful sort, and he has run most consistently recently. He was third in the Omata Hack Handicap at the Taranaki autunm meeting, .and won the Trial Hack Handicap at Egmont. At Trentham lasti week he ran two good races, finishing second to Quanum, on the first day, and third in the Belmont Handicap on the concluding day. At the Kangitikei meeting on Wednesday he annexed the Ngatiapa Hack Handicap, and was second to Vigilance on Thursday. Mendip is owned by Mr. H. Spratt, and is by Bisogne from Ici. Some years ago Mr. Spratt raced another good horse named Mendip, who was by at. Paul from a Sou'-wester mare.

, Dobbin has raced well recently. He

made his first appearance this season at the Manawatu summer meeting, when he ran unplaced in the Awapuni Handicap. Going on to Marton, he won the Railway Handicap in his next start, but was beaten into third place in the Telegraph Handicap on the following day. He later annexed the President's Handicap at Pahiatua, a,nd also the President's Handicap at Dannevirke, failing to get into the money at the latter meeting on the second day. At the Kangitikei meeting this week he was unplaced the first day, but won the Greatford Handicap on Thursday. Therefore in nine •tarts lie has won four events, and been placed third on another occasion.

Vast Acre has performed well over spvint courses this season, and in her thirteen starts has not been further .hack than third. She ran second and third respectively in her first two races of the season at Wanganul last September and won the Jackson Hack Memorial * Stakes, five furlongs, at the Waverley . meeting in her next outing. She was -beaten in a division of the Sibaria. Han,s. dicap at AMihurst, but won the Fitzroy Hack Handicap, six furlongs, at Feilding in good style, though she was beaten »by The Raider and Lucky Days on the second day. At the Marton meeting at New Year's time Vast Acre finished second in the Railway Handicap, and won the Telegraph Handicap the next •lay, while at Foxton she was again second in the Wharangi Handicap. Going on to Egmont, she was second to Rerc- • looaiia in the Flying Handicap, and wo» •'fne Waimate Handicap later. Her. next Tfppearance was at Kangitikei this week, when she was third and second respectively in her engagements.

Partaga showed pood form last sea«on, for in sixteen starts he was, only /',i\ a place on three occasions, and. $ p *' as the money in his last 'seven jrj races. He won three events, was second -4;! five times, mid third on a similar num- ,{/ i b*r of occasions. Good as Gold is reported to be going along well in her work at Wingatui, and should be in good trim when raced again.

The Great Northern double winner, Lochella, is in training at Wingatui, and hopes are held that he will win further cross-country honours during the winter.

Twink, who finished second in the Fraser Memorial Handicap at the Kangitikei meeting on Thursday, won a couple of events last season. Her best effort this season was in winning the Foxton Cup.

The acceptances for the Whangarei Racing Club's autumn meeting closed yesterday, and excellent fields remain in the various events. The fixture promises to be quite as successful as in former years.

Oration was given a run on the first day of the Rangitikei meeting this week, and finished third to Ruanui and Wlienuanui. He scored at the Waikato meeting in the spring, and has been placed on five occasions since.

Eight are left in the C.J.C. Champagne Stakes, and with Goblin Market, Miss Ransom and Pull Fe&ther included the event should be a most interesting one. Goblin Market and Miss Bansom will probably be the elect on the day.

Black Duke has performed pretty well during the last couple of seasons. At the recent Dunedin Autumn meeting he won the Stewards' Handicap and was third in the Abbotsford Handicap, while he has been placed on other occasions.

Dumblane, who won at Wingatui yesterday, is by Leigliton from Flora Maedonald, and was bred by Mr. H. Friedlander. When in training at Ellerslie last spring he was considered one of the best two-year-olds at headquarters. Mr. Friedlander subsequently disposed of him to Mr. C. A. Shiels, of Dunedin, and he registered his first success yesterday.

Excellent nominations have been received by the Avondale Jockey Club for their autumn meeting, which will be held on their own course next month. In the Foley Memorial Handicap, the chief event on the first day, the names of Star Stranger, Mask, and Bright Glow are to be found, and if they go to the post they will give added interest to the event. With Paganelli, Aussie. Raasay, Joy King and others engaged in the All-Aged Stakes this classic event should be quite as interesting as in former years.

It looks as though Reremoana will go to Riccarton at Easter time, for he has been paid up for in the Easter Handicap and the Challenge Stakes. In the latter event Cimabue, The Hawk, Eulalie, and the two-year-olds Goblin Market and Concentrate have also been paid up for. During the thirty-five contests for the Challenge Stakes two-year-olds have won the event on sixteen occasions, three-vear-olds ten, four-year-olds four, five-vear-olds twice, six-year-olds twice and aged (Gloaming) once. Reremoana and The Hawk are both aged, and Cimabue and Eulalie three-year-olds.

Hard Prince, who won the Autumn Hurdles at the Oamaru meeting yesterday, is by Prince Merriwee from Te Papapa, and was bred by J. D. Kemp, of Auckland. He was trained at Ellerslie for a while. Last season he finished third in a hurdle race at Waimate and performed similarly in the Autumn Hurdles at the Oamaru meeting (the event he won yesterday). On the second day he won the Pacific Hurdles. At the Dunedin winter meeting he was second to Bonena in the Trial Hurdles. Yesterday was his first start this season, and lie will make his presence felt again before the winter season is through.

Tn the 1024-25 season the Australianbred gelding Apple Digliton was a good performer, winning five races and l>eing placed on three other occasions out of twelve starts. In the following season he only raced on five occasions for a second and a third, while last season he did not race at all. He made his reappearance at the Dunedin Jockey Club b autumn meeting, where he ran unplaced At the Oamaru Jockey Club's meeting at Wingatui yesterday Apple Dighton won the Flying Handicap, and he looks as though' he has regained his form. He has onlv to go on the right way trf make his presence felt in more select company.
