PAPAROA NEWS.

OLD RESIDENTS FAREWELLED. •By Telegraph Own rnnvspnndent. I PAPAROA, this day. Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Blackwell, who are leaving the district after many years' residence, were farewelled by a gathering of their friends in Garrison Hall last night. Mr. Black well's residence dates back 46 vears.

Mr. M. N. Skelton, on behalf of a large number of subscribing residents, presented the guests of the evening with a choice dinner service. Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell, he said, had earned the respect and esteem of the whole district. They had entered into the life of the community and taken their part in district improvement. He specially mentioned Mr. Blackwell's valuable work in bygone years as treasurer of the Anglican Church, and said he had frequently stood behind the stipend payments personally. Mrs. Blackwell had been an enthusiastic helper at the annual shows of the North Kaipara Agricultural Society and in other worthy public movements.

Mr. Blackwell suitably responded. During the evening Miss Poore and Messrs. Kattern, W. Hook, G. Haines, J. H. Egan, and J. H. Trounson contributed to an interesting programme, and the Matakohe Orchestra, under Mr. J. Sterling, played music for dancing.
