DEVIL'S DYKE SAVED.

ANONYMOUS BENEFACTOR. The Devil's Dyke, near Brighton, has been saved for all time by the action of ft well-known local man, whose name 1 must not for the present be divulged. The new owner, who has before under somewhat similar circumstances stepped into the breach when others hesitated, is to offer the site to Brighton Corporation at a price showing no profit, but, even if the corporation refuse the offer, the new owner will on no account allow the site to become one of Dean Inge's l "bungaloid growths." The corporation is already owner of the land close to the Dyke, purchased in order to ensure the purity of Brighton's water supply. The rapid growth of the borough, and the pressure of urban development, will probably induce the corporation to accept the »ff«r.
