Thames Trots.

Annual Meeting Opened. — Warplane And .Cornelian Division Winners. The annual meeting of the Thames Trotting Club was held at Thames today. The weather was fine, though overcast, and there was a good attendance. The course was in good order. Two Divisions. ! Owing to the number of starters in the Hikutaia Handicap the field had to be divided. Cornelian was favourite, carrying just a "fiver" more than the bracket, Nelson Dillon and Don Juan, with Money next fancied. In the first division several of the competitors failed to go away properly. When the field had gone a couple of furlongs Ben Zolock was in charge from Warplane, Warspite, Nella Dillon. Araroa and Margaret Wallace. Passing the stands Ben Zolock still had command from Warplane, Nelson Dillon and Margaret Wallace. Along the back Ben Zolock and Warplane were just in front of Nelson Dillon, the trio being well clear of Warspite and Nella Dillon. The order was unchanged across the top and Warplane and Ben Zolock came into the straight together just ahead of Nelson Dillon, the others being a long way back. Ben Zolock broke, causing Nelson Dillon to go out wide and Warplane beat him by half a head, with Warspite eight lengths away. Then came Araroa, Nella Dillon, Boston Chimes and Golden Park. In the second division Carnui was quickest away, followed by Peter Pirate and Rosie Thorpe. Passing the stand Peter Pirate was in charge from Carnui, Ohena, Great Ballin, Rosie Thorpe, Charming Pronto and Money, who were all bunched. Along the back Peter Pirate, Carnui and Money were together clear of Rosie Thorpe, Great Ballin and Charming Pronto. Just before reaching the top Rosie Thorpe ran up to the leaders, but broke and lost her position, Peter Pirate going on in front of Money, Rosie Thorpe, Carnui * and Great Ballin, with Cornelian making up ground fast. Peter Pirate led into the straight from Mopey, Rosie Thorpe and Cornelian. In the run home Peter Pirate boggled under punishment and Cornelian got up to beat him by threequarters of a length. Rosie Thorpe was six lengths away third, with Moko Fly, Great Ballin, Money and Fungus next. Concertina Wins Easily. Speed King, Ursuline and Master Huia failed to keep their engagements in the Kerepeehi Handicap, leaving a field of twelve. Haeranga Pai was the public fancy, carrying £402, with Dad's Hope £373, and Andover £173, next best backed. All, with the exception e€ Willie Mac, went away. Haeranga Pai was the early leader from Concertina, Anseline and Gold Sound. Before the stands were reached the second time Concertina was in front with Haeranga Pai, Gold Sound, Anseiine, Bronze Patch and Dad's Hope next. Along the back the order was Concertina, Haeranga Pai, Gold Sound and Dad's Hope. There was no alteration to the finish, Convertina winning by a length and a-half from Haeranga Pai with Gold Sound six lengths away third. Then came Dad's Hope, Anseline, Bronze Patch, Bell Tower and Gold Dial. A Favourite Wins. The withdrawal of Annie ■ Emma, Mokopuna and Ohapi left sixteen to contest the Parawai Handicap, and the public choice was Special Bel!, who carried £672, with Etta Cole £407, and Carwood £191, next most sought after, passing the stands Special 801 l was in j charge from Lena Ansel, Lady Ena and j Elego. Special Bell held his position along the back attended by Lena Ansel, Lady Ena, Elego, and Fairbairn. There was no alteration as they crossed the top, although Special Bell broke. The others were also mixing their gait, and Special Bell was first to turn for home from Lena Ansel, Lady Ena and Fairbairn. Special Bell won easily by three lengths from Lena Ansel, who beat Lady Ena by two lengths and a-half. Then oame Fairbairn, Elego, and Salesman. Etta Oole broke up badly in the last round. A Good Dividend. Ben Zolock, Patricia Bell and Bronze Patch failed to keep their engagements in the saddle event, the Puriri Handicap. Beauty Spot commande most attention being entrusted with £407, while Horizon £339 and Charming Pronto £332 were next best supported. The favourite began quickest, but Horizon soon ran to the front and led into the back stretch from Charming Pronto, Silver Link, Golden Grattan and Beauty Spot. Before reaching the top Horizon began to come back to the field and Master Huia, who moved up fast, was in front before reaching the home turn, with Charming Pronto, Silver Link, Horizon and Golden Grattan next. In the run to the judge Master Huit never gave the others a chance, winning easily by two lengths and a-half from Charming Pronto, who beat Golden Grattan by a length. Silver Link was fourth, followed by Hohoro, Liberate and Horizon. Details:—
