BOWLING.
pHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS.
WALKER DEFEATS JAMES. Plav in the Auckland Bowling Centre's champion of champions competition was continued after the " Star " - went to press yesterday afternoon. Results: — Eighth Sound. M. Walker (Auckland) 19, beat J. James (Edendale) 11. .Tames opened nervously and Walker quickly ran up a lead of seven points to nil in three heads. Then the Edendale man, who adopts an unusual attitude prior to delivering his bowl and whose general style is somewhat unconventional, struck his length and showed himself an accurate and skilful bowler. Gradually he reduced his opponent's lead and at the tenth head, in which he fairly outplayed the cx-Dominion champion, the score hoard showed eight all. James fell away after his fine effort, and lopt three on the eleventh head, but came again in succeeding heads so that on the fourteenth the score was Walker 12, James 11. This was the end of the Edendale champion's game struggle. Walker's drawing was the more consistent, whilst his strategy left no loopholes, and he ran out a winner on. the twentieth head by 19 points to 11. The final 1 -'tween Walker and Clarke will be played this afternoon.
