WEDDINGS OF THE WEEK.

HARRIS—YOUNG.

A very pretty wedding was solemnised in Ohakune on Friday evening, the contracting parties being Miss Cristina Young, only daughter of Mrs. Young, Ohakune, and Mr. William Sydney Harris, of the Railway Department, Ohakune. The Rev. Skelton officiated. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. B. Young, wore a frock of pink silk rayon with hat to match. She carried a bouquet of sweet peas and carnations. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Doris Boggs, attired in a frock of cornflower blue georgette, and Miss Audrey Adam, who wore a frock of apricot satin. Mr. Arthur Abbott, of Ohakune, acted as best

man.. Mrs, Young, mother of the bride, wore a dress of black French crepe de chine embroidered in blue. Over one hundred guests attended the breakfast, which was served in the hall of the King's Court.

XIRKUP—THOMAS. .Th® marriage took place at the Mount Albert Methodist Church yesterday afternoon of Miss Dulcie Thomas, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Thomas, of Mount Albert, to Mr. Thomas James Kirkup, of Mount Albert. The Rev. A. Ashcroft officiated. In a charming gown of white satin beaute the bride made a graceful picture as she came down the aisle on the arm of her father. The frock was sleeveless and effective in its simplicity.' A flared panel at one side gave V a distinctive note, and on the shoulder was a large silver tissue flower. The veil, which Was of filmy tulle embroidered in silver thread, was arranged softly on the head and kept in place by a circlet of orange blossoms. It fell gracefully over the shoulders to the ground. The bride carried a beautiful shower bouquet of white roses and maidenhair fern. There were three bridesmaids—Miss Muriel Thomas, sister of the bride, Miss Edith Day, and Miss Jean Thomas, sister of the bride. The two former wore frocks of coral pink georgette. ■ The three-tiered skirt was attached to the loose bodice at a low waistline, where a broad sash of georgette was finished in a large softly-tied bow at the back. Silver embroidery gave just the right touches to the trimming, and around their heads they wore bandeaux of pleated georgette edged with silver tissue and finished in front with a brilliant pin. Miss Jean Thomas wore coral pink made Victorian style with tight-fitting bodice and full skirt. It was trimmed with bands of guipure lace. Bouquets in tones to match their frocks were carried. * The bridegroom was supported by Mr. Colin Vinson as best man and Mr. Selwyn Sheaf as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Ellerslie Tea Kiosk, which was beautifully decorated for the occasion with masses of flowers, lira. Thomas received the guests wearing a frock of finely-pleated navy georBitte with fawn hat, with touches of tie, and carried a posy in tones of blue. The London papers say that spots are coving back. We have had so. many downward stripes in the way of pleats, and round and round stripes on jumpers, that ft doc* seem tfmc that spots had fcH innings. They appeared on most of the three-piece suits a: writer saw at -a famous Regent Street house, especially those which showed silk and woollen material combined. A leaf green kasha had a green crepe de chine jumper with white • spots; a cornflower blue coat covered a white crepe dress with blue spots, belt, and tie,, and so on.
