PERSONAL.
Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, who has been on a short visit to Auckland, left for the South by the Limited last evening. Dr. T. G. Gray, inspector-general of mental hospitals, is at the Grand Hotel. He goes back to Wellington at the end of the week.
Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., arrived in Auckland last evening from Hamilton. He leaves next week for England and expects to be away about six months.
Staying at the Central Hotel are Mr and Mrs. T. O'Dea (Melbourne), Mr. H. D. Hawkins, Mr. P. Hawkins (Rotorua), Mr. S. Scott Mr. M. Dance (Hamilton).
Mr. St. J. Christopher (Cambridge), Mr. E. Hansen (Wanganui), and Mr. H. J. Wernham (Hamilton), are staving at the Commercial Hotel.
Mr. Justice Blair returned to Auckland from Hamilton yesterday, and has resumed his sittings in the Supreme Court. He will be occupied by civil cases and bankruptcy work during the next few weeks.
Mr. R. Self, who has been fields inspector of the Lands and Survey Department, with headquarters in Te Arohn for the past four years, has been promoted to the position of district valuer, Wellington.
Mr. F. J. Jones, chairman of the New Zealand Railways Board, and Mr. C. W. Widdop, chief engineer for working railways, arrived by the Limited express this morning for the purpose of paying visits of inspection to Auckland's new railway works which are in progress, namely, the Westfield deviation and the new station. They will return to Wellington on Sunday night.
