MZMIVrSM OK TOOTL MANY DEPUTATIONS MET. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. The Hon. A. D. McLeod, Minis 4 er of Lands and the Hon. K. S. Williams, Minister of Puir.ic Works, ▼ is'tod the western portion of the Thame* electorate yesterday and inspected the unmetallcd portion of the Waitakaruru-Miranda Road for about four mile*. This rtretch of road comes within three counties and the Minister promised a £2 for £1 subsidy, whWi met with the approval of the Haumki Plains and Franklin County representatives, but there was about fifteen chains in the Waikato County which proved an obstacle, as the area was too smell to enable a rating area to be constituted. The Minister promised to see the Waikato County Council and endeavour to have the difficulty overcome. Replying to a deputation of setters who asked for improved roading at New Brighton and Clevedon, along the coast, the Minister promised a grant of £300 for a bridge and an increase of the amount of the grant for road formation in the Franklin county. Members or the deputation from Mcmr asked for a grant for the Kohe-roa-Mercer Road. The Minister promised to inquire into the matter. A large deputation from the Mangatawhiri River area urged that a main high-way be raised. The Minister Eomisod to refer the matter to the ighways Board.
