CORNWELL CUP DISPUTE.
TAKAPUNA CLUB NOT CONCERNED.
MATTER FOR CUP SAILING
COMMITTEE.
At a meeting of the Takapuna Boating Club it was decided to make a final statement to a recent resolution of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association concerning the Cornwell Cup dispute. The committee directed the secretary to point out to the Otago Y.M.BA. that the Takapuna Boating Club had not refuted to state a case for the Yacht Racing Association, but had merely pointed out that the Takapuna club had no control over the contest, which was automatical lv tMcen over bv the Cornwell Cup Sailing Committee. The club in its letter offered to obtain a full statement from the local officials and supplement it with a statement for a ruling, if such were desired, but pointed out that according to the rules the Cornwell Cup Sailing Committee's decision was final, that such being the case the Yacht Racing Association would probably decline to give a ruling, and that if the Otago association considered the rules obscure or unreasonable its delegate could move an amendment at the next conference. The committee finally emphasised again that the Takapuna Boating Club was entirely outside the scope of the dispute, which was between the Otago body and the Cornwell Cup Sailing Committee (composed of delegates from all the competing centres) which had full control of the race.
