There was a very large demand for seats when the box plans were opened this mornjag for the approaching season of "Tip lues, the successful musical comedy which is to be staged by the J. Williamson, Ltd., in Sydney, arrived by the Aorangi this morning to I witness the initial New Zealaud repre- \ sentation of "I ip Toes. ' The producer and the musical director are already here and the company will arrive by the Maunganui to-morrow. Although the dancing is one of the outstanding leatures of "lip Joes, it is. nevertheless, brimming over with delightful melodies, exquisite I musical numbers, and clever and original I comedy. Special interest centres in the! appearance of Josephine Head, Albert] ' Hugo, and Mdlle. Kamona. the famous international dancers from the Folies Bergete, Paris, whose artistry greatly assisted in making "Tip Toes"' one of the most successful musical plays staged during recent years. The music in "Tip Toes," by George Gershwin, has the tunefulness, the gaiety, and the sentiment which have always been necessary for -success in light musical plays. Its action follows a clear and coherent story, and the characterisation, due U> the book, by Guy Bolton and Fred Thompson, permits of steady progression along parallel lines of romantic interest and comic amplification. The scenes in "Tip Toes"' are laid at Palm Beach, the American resort, and on the deck of a yacht. The last is said to be a most striking effect set against a moonlit sea ' ~° ne °f strongest features in "Tip Toes 7 ' is its comcdy, in the hands of Cecil Kellaway, R_ Barrett-Lennard and George Welsh. Only a limited number of performances can be staged, as during the 10 nights' season ''Queen High," also a successful New York production, will be staged.
