DRANK WINE.

AND PLAYED GRAMOPHONE.

A PICNIC ON HIS OWN.

MAN ILLEGALLY ON PREMISES

On January 26 William Henry Mundey (58), who is separated from his wife, went out to Swanson to see her. She refused to speak to him, so he went to Mr. Harry A. Robertson's house and knocked at the door. No one answered. There was a picnic a quarter of a mile away in a paddock. Mundey was both hungry and thirsty, so he entered the house, drank three shillings' worth of Mr. Robertson's wine, and played the gramophone. When a little girl entered the house, Mundey ran away.

In presenting the above facts to Mr. P.' K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court this morning, Chief Detective Hammond su eS es^e d that the charge of breaking and entering and theft of the wine should be reduced to one of being illegally on premises. Mundey was a drunken waster, but had never been convicted of dishonesty before.

Mr. Hunt agreed to this course being taken, and convicted and ordered Mundey to come up for sentence when called upon.
