FOUND DEAD IN WHARE.
TALLY CLERK'S SUICIDE. (By Telegraph.— Own » 'orrespondfnt.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Henry Harris, aged 46, a tally clerk, was found dead last night in a gaslilled whare in Cambridge Terrace. An ■ inquest was held to-day before Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M. Dr. T. L. Crooke said lie found Harris reclining in a wicker chair alongside a shelf 011 which was a small gas stove. The tube of the gas stove was held in his hand.' His face and head were covered with a pillow case, which was fastened securely about the neck. He , had evidently been dead for some hours.
The police handed to the coroner two letters written by Harris. One gave information as to the whereabouts of his mpney, and the other was addressed to his wife.
The coroner returned a verdict of suicide by gas poisoning.
