CEMENT-LINED CANALS.
The Gang irrigation canal, with its feeders and tributaries extending in all to 568 miles, been lined with cement practically throughout it« entire length. 1 hie is the longest cement-lined canal in the world. There is likely to be a big demand for cement in India, as it is considered certaiu that more concretelined c-anale will be constructed in the near future. The justification for cement lining is supplied in the calculation that, with a given amount of water, prevention of seepage losses increases the capacity of such a system by approximately GG per cent.
