NOT EXTRADITED.
ALT RETURNS VOLUNTARILY. It was incorrectly stated in yesterday's issue of the "Star" that William Maddson Alt, who was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence on three charges of false pretences, had been extradited from Honolulu. Extradition proceedings were taken before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., on January 12, and the application was granted. It was intended to send an escort to Honolulu for Alt by the Niagara, which sailed from Auckland on January 17. Information, however, was received that Alt was willing to come back voluntarily, and the ex> tradition order was not put into effect. Alt, as we stated yesterday, was arrested on the arrival of the Aouingi at Auckland on the evening of January 29. He stated that when he left Auckland by the Aorangi for Honolulu on December 20 it was his intention to return by the same vessel on its return voyage.
