OUTLOOK FOR TIN.
J. B. Were and Son, of Melbourne, report regarding the weakness of the market for tin:— The reasons for the rather remarkable decline in the price of tin have been very aptly summarised by Eastern writers as follow:—(a) Failures on the Metal Exchange; (b) a slackening in the American trade boom; (c) the fear of production outstripping consumption when the 80 odd dredges building or about to be built start producing. To the above may be added competition from a substitute for tin, viz., Uw lacquering of plates.
