BIGAMIST'S SERIOUS OFFENCE
TWO YEARS' HARD LABOUR
"Bigamy may be a serious offence or, under certain circumstances, comparatively trivial," said Mr. Justice Reed at the Supreme Court to-day in sentencing Francis William Sweetman, aged 2S, who had pleaded guilty to the charge and had been committed from Hamilton. In prisoner's case." said His Honor, "the offence was a particularly bad one. He had deserted his wife, and married another girl. That girl's life had been ruined, and prisoner must be punished." Sentence of two years' imprisonment with hard labour was inposed.
