CYCLING.
OPOTIKI ROAD RACE. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKI. Saturday. A bicycle road race, held to-day in glorious weather, drew a good number of competitors. Keen interest was taken by the public. It is intended to form a sports club and hold frequent races.
Results: of to-day's race: —.Toe Shalfoon. 100s, 1; C. Brownie, scr. 2 : I'. Hickey, 50s. 3; B. Mansell, 10s, 4. Distance about three miles and a-balf.
The first prize was a gold medal, the second bicycle tyre, and the. third a bicycle lamp. Mansell was presented with a wristlet watch for the fastest unplaced rider. The liandicapper was Mr. S. M. Jephson.
