NATIVE CHIEF FLIES.
ADDINGTON TRACK RECORD
LEAVES MILE BEHIND IX 2.2
(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.")
CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday.
Native Chief was responsible for an exceptional work-out at Addington this morning. He passed the first half-mile in 58s, and the second half in 1.4, making 22 for the mile. This was the fastest mile ever registered at Ad J ington, and the horse pulled up well. The performance will add greatly to the interest in his mile match with Great Bingen at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting next Saturday. After that it is probable that Native Chief will go North for the Otahuhu Trotting Club's meeting. He has been nominated for , sprint races there, while he may also be sent against the mile record.
