The Cheviot Trotting Club's totalizator meeting, to be held on Saturday, has attracted excellent fields, which should provide some interesting' sport. The meeting will attract a large crowd of Christchurch visitors, as it will afford a pleasant outing in the country.
F. G. Holmes is keeping the pacing mare Queen's Own going solidly in training. She has rarely looked better, and may win another race before retiring to the matrons' paddock.
The trotter Count Dee is doing plenty of solid work, and appears to be in capital trim. At the last few meetings held here Count Dee has been raced very little.
Sirclla looks as though she has done plenty of good work. This pacer is one of the best stayers .ill her class now racing.
The Logan Pointer gelding in E. Berry's stable is coming along well at present. Worked with the Author Dillon-Franzetta gelding this week, the pair gave a good showing for young pacers. They may not be raced for some time, however.
Shadowland is doing plenty of work, and this honest and reliable pacer may win a race before the end of the season. He seems best suited to a two-mile journey.
Nourmahal is big and well. Her racing during the season has improved her in every way, although, not yet at her best over two miles. Possibly next season she will see out the trying last halfmile much better. E. C. McDermott lias done particularly well with the trotter this season.
C. Tasker is keeping Marlindo going, and the pacer is remaining fairly sound. He is showing improvement in his training work, ( C. Rhodes is now wurking Great Earl, by Great Audubon. The gelding has not raced for some time.
Lady Embrace is pacing with plenty of freedom, under the care of H. Gaskell, though she has not made much improvement of late over a two-mile journey.
The trotter Wee Olga is fast getting into her best form again. She is a useful sort over a two-mile journey when at her best.
Cannonball looks none the worse for his racing.
