Mr. and Mrs. H. 0. Xolan and Miss Xolan, who intend to sail by the Ruahine from Wellington for a trip to Europe, left Auckland last evening by the Main Trunk.

Sir James and Lady Allen gave a small dinner party to Dr. E. W. Hill, director of Kew Gardens, London, on Monday last in Dunedin. Those present were Sir George Fen wick and Lady Fen w irk, and Dr. C. E. Hercus and Mrs. Hercus.
