ON FIRE THREE TIMES.
OLD TTAT.T. DESTROYED.
DILAPIDATED BUILDING.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
HAMILTON, this day.
The Municipal Hall, an old wooden building which had served Ngaruawahia for many years for all public functions, was destroyed by fire yesterday. A fire was observed at 1.30 a.m., and the front of the building was found burning. The brigade turned out and got it under control, but a few hours later the fire broke out again at the back, and the brigade, after considerable trouble, again managed to quell it. At 7.40 a.m. the brigade was called out again, but this time the fire practically destroyed the building. The hall was old and dilapidated, and doubtless many residents are glad to see this blot on the landscape removed. It was insured for £400.
The Hamilton Brigade received a call at 9.28 last night to Hinemoa Street, where a number of packing cases had caught fire at the rear of a house occupied by Mr. Harry Samuel, tailor. No damage was done.
