'MARAMA'S PASSENGERS.

VISITORS TO THE DOMINION.

FISHERMEN

AND BOWLERS,

Most of the passengers on the Marama, which arrived from Sydney this morning, were either holiday-makers coming to New Zealand, or those residents of the Dominion returning after holidaying in Australia. There were, however, amongst the former some who had come from distant parts for various purposes. Amongst these were Sir Daniel Cooper and his brother, Captain A. H- Cooper, two Englishmen who have come out after the big game fish. Sir Daniel Cooper has been in New Zealand before, but this is his brother's first visit. It will be their first attempt at big gamo fishing, however, and Sir Daniel will spend a fortnight in the waters of the north and Captain Cooper a month in the Dominion. On board the Marama this morning both men said they were quite looking forward to their venture. Sir Daniel was so impressed with the Dominion during his last visit that he eagerly looked forward to a second one, and when he told his brother of this part of the British Empire the latter was most eager to accompany him.

Mr. John J. McCormack and his two sons have come all the way from Pretoria, South Africa, to "do" the Dominion. Already they are impressed with the little they have seen, and stated on board that if their introduction was any indication of what was to follow, then this must be a great country. The father and sons were loud in their praise of the Hanraki Gulf and the beauties of Auckland and its harbour.

There were three New South Wales bowlers on board the Marama who have come across for the annual tournament at Rotorua. Each of them is well-known in the Dominion, and their names are Mr. Vic. Casey, Mr. Chas. Hyland and Mr. D. Alexander. They propose to pick up the fourth member of their rink later on, but he will be a New Zealander.
