The Mexico City correspondent of the " New York Times" says 225 persons were arrested at a Roman Catholic seminary.

The police allege that Article 3 of the Constitution, which prohibits the teaching of religion, was being violated there. On Tuesday 20 women from another school were arrested on a similar charge.

Two other minor institutions have been closed this week by the police, who are acting under orders from the Secret Service Department of the Ministry of the Interior. None of the arrested persons, if convicted, are likely to suffer more than the imposition of a fine, but this official action has suddenly brought the religious situation into prominence, and shows the evident intention of the Government to enforce the law.

The Secretary-General of Police alleges that the directors of the seminary have been guilty of seditious propaganda. Some homeless and sick children who were found on the premises were allowed to remain, but the majority of the others were taken away. It is said, however, that these latter will probably be released without delay.

Two women' of a noted family were also arrested to-day on a charge of plotting against the Government.
