FIRES.

THAMES, Friday, A four-roomed house, owned and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Hooper, of Orongo, was destroyed by lire yesterday, during the absence of Mr. Hooper at Thames'. Mrs. Hooper made a valiant effort to check the flames. The house and contents were partly insured. A house at Mangatarata, owned and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Clune, was destroyed on Wednesday. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Friday. Fire destroyed a six-roomed house, >wned and occupied by Mr. R. J. Tiddv at Rukuhia, last evening. Mr. Tiddy and his family had only left the house a short time before. The house was insured for a small sum, and Mr. Tiddy is a heavy loser.
