big event at tauranga. PLANE FOR CELEBRATION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAURAXGA, this da v. The sub-committee appointed to draft a programme in connection with the celebration of the opening of the railway to Wailii, will submit the followiiij; recommendations to the executive committee :— That the Public Works Department be asked to arrange for a special excursion train from Taneatua to Tauranna. to arrive at Tauranga at 10.30 a.m.-. also an excursion train from Waihi, to arrive at Tauranga at 10 a.m., and a special from Hamilton. That invitations be forwarded to ;}•<» Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. -1. Coates; the Minister of Public Work-. Hon. K. S. Williams; the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. H. E. Holland: Sir Joseph Wrd; representatives of the Auckland and Wellington Chambers of Commerce, and other public men. That a recommendation be maac to the Public Works Department tlia tin. Hon. R. MacKenzie, formerly Minister of Public Works, be their guest on t lie occasion. That the official opening be fixed for a Wednesday, if possible, and take place at 11 a.m. That a public luncheon be held at noon, and that the Mayor be asked to convene a meeting of residents to arfrange for local events on the day of the celebrations, there to consist of aquatic sports in the morning, and children's sports and a garden party on the Domain in thf afternoon*
