ENGLISH TEAM IN ACTION. ; ~ (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, Friday. The North Island croquet championships were continued to-day when the visiting English players joined in matches. A notable win was that of Mrs. E. A. Smith (Christchurch), who defeated Miss R. Skeet, the present holder of the North Island championship. Colonel Du Pre gave a brilliant exhibition of croquet, defeating Mrs. W. J. Kirk in two straight games. Sir Francis Wemyss, after a somewhat indifferent opening, produced good form and beat Colonel Savile, of Auckland. Ross beat Mrs. C. Watkins, but both gave more chances than usual.
