STILL UNSETTLED.

TE AROHA COUNCIL a DISPUTE.

MISTAKE IN WAIHOU BRIDGE.

(Sy Telegraph. —Own Correspondent.)

TE AROHA, Thursday.

After six attempts the Te Aroha Borough Council has not fixed the responsibility for an error which occurred ift the driving of the piles for the Waihou River bridge.

Last night's meeting had to be adjourned because Mr. J. C. Carroll, a councillor, insisted that the rule terminating meetings at 10 p.m. be observed. Mr. S. Jones, of Auckland, the engineer for the bridge, and Mr. T. J. James, the council's clerk of works, were both present, and Mr. Jones protested strongly against the termination of the meeting. He said he had gone to Te Aroha time and again to answer the published allegations of the clerk of works, and had not been allowed to do it.

The Mayor protested against Mr. Carroll's attitude, but Mr. Carroll walked out with some other councillors, and the meeting ended.

The controversy will be continued at the next meeting of the council.
