STOLE RADIATOR GAUGE.
SEAMAN SENT TO GAOL,
"I was drunk yesterday, and all that I remember is that I found the thing," said Stanley Devine, a seaman off the s.s. Ruapehu, when charged _ with drunkenness, and also with stealing a radiator gauge, valued at £1 10/. Evidence was given that accused and two other men were seen near a motor car in Nelson Street yesterday. Shortly afterwards the radiator gauge and cap was found to have disappeared from a motor car. Devine was arrested for drunkenness, and when searched the motor car accessory was found in his possession. Devine was fined 10/ for drunkenness, and sentenced to 21 days' imprisonment on the theft charge, the magistrate ordering that he be placed on board his vessel when it ia about to sail.
