DENVER (CoL), November 22.
As the result of the skirmishes between the striking miners aud police the dead now number five, with 40 injured. National Guardsmen on duty at the Columbine mine were under the fire of snipers for three hours to-day with no resultant injuries.
The countryside resembles a. Var territory. Tents are pitched, a field hospital has been established and nineteen outposts placed around the mine
property. State officials, upholding the actions of the troopers yesterday in their firing on the mob, said it was the only thing they could do to save their own lives.
