ORIGINAL TITLES FOR STORY.
HEAVY ENTRIES THIS WEEK
JOKE COMPETITION CAUSES MERRIMENT, f Dear Boys and Girls,-— Many were the titles submitted for the story. Strangely enough there I were several which seemed to be general favourites, such as "The Mystery Solved" or "Jim Rankin's Lack." Naturally, when making my decision, 1 favoured those out of the ordinary, as you will see when reading the best i suggestions, sent in by Adelaide Wright, Thomas McLean, O.S 8., and ! Mavis Persons. On the whole 1 was disappointed with entries for the story made of I words built from "auriferous.' The general standard was so poor that I i Have not awarded any certificates. Fitzie Morris, the winner, was a brilliant i exception. I mention, also, Frank Molesworth as being above the average. J Jim Middleton's entry was a pleasant surprise, and is remarkably good for I a boy of his age. | Entries for the joke competiton were, if possible, even more amusing ! than usual. It was only after lengthy deliberation that I was able to I determine the prize-winners and four-pointers from the bundle of the best I entries. Annie Fugill, Dudley Burley, Audrey Retter and Dorothy Jones all t deserve mention for their entries, which appear elsewhere. i It is unfortunate that lack of space has prevented the publication of I the winning Jiggles, as some of the drawings for this week are really excellent. Laurie Millener well ! deserves first place for his picture of . a clock, moving on its own hands in T~jl accordance with Daylight Saving ( Vt/j/aX time. Connie Norris and Dudley Burley are also to be congratulated.
