SWANSON SPORTS.
SUCCESSFUL ATHLETIC EVENT.
The annual athletic meeting of the Swanson Sports Club was helil on Saturday and proved a hugely successful event In every respect. There was a large gathering of spectators and some notable athletes from the city took part in the competitions. The club comprises representatives of the Rugby, Soccer, basketball and cricket teams, and the sports meeting proceeds are divided among the four bodies. As a result of the success of the games on the new recreation ground all the sports bodies concerned should benefit considerably in funds.
Following the sports a dance was held in the evening, this also being very largely attended, and Mr. J. Thompson, president of the club, distributed ttie prizes won in the afternoon, including silver cup and medal for the big handicap and gold and silver medals for the 100 yards championship.
