MEETING OF COMMITTEE.

At last week's meeting of the committee of the Thames Trotting Club nine new members were elected, bringing the number of members up to 425.

A recommendation from the executive committee that the more important positions be paid positions was adopted, and officials were appointed as follows: Judge, applications to be called for same; handicapper, Mr. C. Paul, junr.; starter, Mr. R. T. Reid: clerk of scales, Mr. E. Whitehead; clerk of course, Mr. J. McCormick; official timekeeper, Mr. A. P. Buick; assistant timekeeper, Mr. P. Corbett; judicial committee, Messrs. J. Twohill, A. G. Mabee, B. Faithfull, T. W. Rhodes, A. E. L. Dodd and A. Wilson; veterinary surgeons, Messrs. J. Costello and C. y. Dayus; surgeon, Dr. J. B. Liggins.

It was decided to give £1200 in stakes not induding the £100 gold cup donated by Mrs. B. Collins, and the programme was drawn up.

A report on the provision of stabling accommodation submitted by Mr. Fearn was received, and consideration deferred until a conference was held with the Thames Jockey Club.

Mr. 11. Lowe, who has acted as judge since the club's inauguration, was unanimously elected a life hon. member.

THE COUNTRY CIRCUIT.

Although there are several meetings to go before the Thames meeting arrives, owners will be interested in the programme which has been drawn up by that club. The card is the usual one of eight events, and the amount of stake money distributed is £1200, which does not include the £100 gold cup donated by Mrs. B. Collins.

The opening event is the Hikutaia Handicap of 100 soys, one mile and ahalf, for horses that have not won at better than 2.20 to the mile, and the limit is 3.435. The Kerepeehi Handicap of 115sovs has a limit of 4.31, and the Parawal Handicap of lOOsovs, for trotters only that have not won at better than 2.30 to the mile, has a limit of 3.52. A mile saddle race, 2.24 class, carries 115sovs, and the Thames Trotting Cup, limit 4.40, is worth 450sovs and a £100 gold cnp. The other events are the Turua Handicap of llosovs, limit 3.39, President's Handicap of 170sovs, for Jimit 4.56, and Kbpu Handier•» vt 13Sson, limit 2.54. i
