BEIAND AS GARDENER
LONDOiv, November 18. "The olive tree planted at Locarno does not vet throw a shade large enough for us to" sit in its shadow, but already one can rest at its foot and take hope," said M. Briand, French Foreign Minister, in a speech at Nantes. "If we tend and protect it from shafp frosts we may live to see it thrive and crow. I am happy to be its gardener. ° "Why should two peoples kill each other and shed seas of blood when difficulties arise. "France invites all nations to organise for the juridical solution in the event of conflict," he added.
