A FEATURE OF THE FORESBojlSS^^^*
(To the Editor.)
Permit me through your columns tn attention to the destruction of pohntdgsllta trees on the cliffs of the reserve at St. JtaSEPF Bay. These trees are (or have been) a feature of the harbour foreshore, butfc?lk# S considerable time past large brandies been ruthlessly cut from them for and in some cases the appearance of tkri beautiful trees lias been almost iSSt - ' destroyed. Jlanv local people a « visitors complain of this vandalism, bato'S one seems to know who are the protectant? this reserve area or to whom the matter thnria be referred. Apparently there is mttST prevent a wood merchant from vessel up on the beach and cutting ' away pohutukawas. It is time that was put to this reprehensible practice! appeal to you to give the matter visit to Lady's Bay, Karaka the other little enchanting bays neighbourhood would convince even the 'aS' ' ' casual observer that it is only a .V time when this glorious heritage of paradise will be irretrievably frmt. -AiSslIP landers are so accustomed to seeing cones, foreshores and native flora that a little vandalism more or less matter but a trifle.
