PIGEON FLYING.
WESTERN CLUB. The Western Pigeon Club flew its first race from Te Awamutu, the birds being assisted by a strong wind. Five birds competed. Results:— Mr. X. Peterson's blk h Lucky Shot, 850 yards per minute 1 Messrs. Poison Bros.' blk p c Limerick, 848 yards 2 Mr. Lumsden's blk c h, Hurry On, 843 yards S MANUNUI CLUB. The Manunui Homing Pigeon Clnb flew its yearling championship from Blenheim, the ■birds being liberated by Mr. R. Wanden, in fine weather. Results :— D. Andrew's Pukuweka, 1070 yds per minute ' 1 J. Whlttaker's Reremoana, 1069.3 yds .. 2 R. Patterson's Darknite, 1068.3 yds .... 3 D. Wilson's Star Salute, 1066.2; G. Wilson's Regent Wafer, 1048 yds. The club also held a two-bird race from Blenheim. The birds were liberated by Mr. R. Wanden. in fine weather. The trophy was presented by Mrs. G. Wilson. Results :— D. Andrew's Discard and Buster, 1042 yds per minute 1 J. Whittaker's Silver Streak and Chortle, . . 1026.4 yds 2 R. Patterson's Blue Sky and Eclipse, 1023.3 yds 3 D. Wilson's Star Barker and Star Finder. 1023.2yd5: G. Wilson's Fleetwing and Georgie, 1022.4yd5.
