SUBURBAN DISCONTENT.

METROPOLITAN CONTROL BOARD. RECEIVING GOVERNMENT'S CONSIDERATION. (By Telegraph. — Parliamentary Reporter' WELLINGTON, Monday;,

"ot\ the result of negotiations at prc*ent in train will depend the question of whether legislative action will be taken or not," was the reply of the Minister of Public Works to a question by Mr. Jordan as to the possibility of setting lip a Metropolitan Control Board for the Auckland transport district. The Hon. K. S. Williams- said . his attention had been drawn to the unsatisfactory position in Auckland suburban districts, and the Government was at present in correspondence on the subject. Mr. Jordan, commenting on the Minister s reply, said the position was very serious. There tfas much dissatisfaction. Then the City Council took over the transport and the fare was raised to threepence. No buses were provided for children who attended during (lie afternoon, and on one occasion pupils who had finished tlie morning's work found there were no buses to take them home. The excuse offered when complaint was made was that the service did i not. pay. He regretted. that no! action had been taken towards establishing a Metropolitan Control Board. It was unfair that the City Council should Hve Bole MntroUMf an area 1110 re than S,M ? f t be city area.
